2012 Christmas greetings from our home to yours

Image
Dearly Beloved Family and Friends, Our hearts are broken, as are everyone’s, with the tragic events that seem to come in waves of terror, but we still know that God is there and life eternal is still the promise made possible by our by our precious Savior, especially for innocent little children who are instantly embraced in His loving arms! Notwithstanding the evil in the world, we still celebrate this Christmas with joy as our hearts are turned to the Savior, and to you our dear family and our wonderful friends. We are so grateful that our family is our friends and our friends are family! It has been a very busy and interesting and productive year, with the addition of two wonderful great grandsons, Jacob August Neiffer and David Richard Dalling. This brings the count of our great grandchildren now tied with our grandchildren at 28 each, but we know the great grandchildren will win; time is on their side! We also have a granddaughter expecting twins, so they are coming in multiples!...

Christmas Dinner

Image
Thanks giving is past and now we look forward to the best season of all the year when we find that the things of great worth are not things at all, but family, and those who are so precious in our lives! We would like to have a family Christmas dinner at our home in Gladstone on Saturday, 21 Dec. and eat about 2 PM. We would love to have you join us if you are able. Will you please check your social calendar and see if that will work for you? We know some are so far away, but you will be in our hearts! If you can come, please let us know so we can organize the meal; we want everyone to get fed! We will get some more details out as soon as we get a count. If I do not have all the kids emails, tell them they are included! We send our love to you and our fervent wishes that this will be your best Christmas ever!

Doyle and Jo are a beautiful couple and will always be!

Mar 1969

Doyle found this picture in his collection and gave it to us. It was obviously before young Dennis was born in 1969. I love Mom’s hair and pretty little apron, Daryl’s rubber boots and bright red hair, David’s pose, Dan’s a bit detached, Janet just looks pretty, and Julie’s cute boots and cute tongue! Dad just looks a little amused. Oh, the good old days!   Love you all

Bidwell CA 1946

Image
This picture from Uncle Doyle Dickinson’s archives is from the summer of 1946 and brings a flood of memories of one of the most interesting chapters of my life. After WW II had ended, Grandfather Dickinson bought an old hotel and 360 acres of sagebrush in the remote area of Ft Bidwell, CA, from his sister. We all moved from Portland Oregon in the hopes of forming a kind of family pioneer united order. The picture shows two malnourished urchins, forced to work in the woods cutting cedar posts, in the Modoc forest above Ft Bidwell, CA. We worked with our four uncles, Doyle, Max, Vern, and Dick, who was about our age.  We do look happy, as if we did not understand how hard life was! I was 12 years old and younger than my brother Frank, but always a bit larger in stature. We always were best friends growing up and that made everything we did more fun! The trees were cut and bucked with a two man crosscut saw that was taller than me. It was a trick to pull and push at just the r...

The Dennis Dalling 2012 Family Reunion

Image
It was a grand and glorious, bright and beautiful, Dennis Dalling Family Reunion at the Eagle Creek Overlook on the beautiful Columbia River over the Labor Day weekend. The group picture leaves me wishing we could rotate and have every family in front, but we do have some individual family group pictures for each of our six kids. I will email them separately, It was wonderful and rare to have all of our children together at one time. We now have over 80 descendants and spouses and over 50 were in attendance for all or part of the 5 day gathering! We are already looking forward to next year! The bonds of love we felt reminds us that at the end, if you do not have family, you really do not have anything! I know there are many wonderful pictures that were taken by many cameras, if you have some you would like to share send them to me or post them on Facebook. I have a vague plan to develop my website: dalling.org; Jamie gave me some advice and as soon as I can translate it, we may have a...

Image
Our dear Jean passed away today and has returned home to a joyful and tender reunion with her mother and dad, and all those loved ones who are as delighted to see her as we are sad to say goodbye. The time and date of a memorial service is being planned and as soon as we hear we will advise.

We have had some inquiries for pioneer stories from family members and would like to submit a few for your enjoyment. The faith and courage of so many of our ancestors is a source of pride for their contribution that makes us what we are today, and encouragement for us to face the future with the same faith and courage! This story is about William Cresfield Moody, Ramona’s great grandfather; also a pedigree chart for Ramona so you can keep score. I will search out as many as I can on all the lines and send them on.
